Adoption Application Form

Always ensure you are ready to adopt a dog before you complete the application form. Once you have reserved a dog and passed your homecheck (which will normally be done within 7 days) we do expect you to adopt your new dog within a few days.

Thank you for your interest in adopting a KGR hound!

Always ensure you are ready to adopt a dog before you complete the application form. Once you have reserved a dog and passed your homecheck (which will normally be done within 7 days) we do expect you to adopt your new dog within a few days.

If you live in rented accommodation we will need to see written permission from your landlord before you can visit the dogs.

We may also ask for ID (utility bill/bank statement confirming your address and photo ID such as passport, driving licence) before we arrange your homecheck.

Please be honest with your answers – especially with your working hours and your garden security – then we can match you up a suitable dog, who suits your lifestyle.

Whilst all our dogs are assessed prior to being re-homed and full information given to prospective adopters, we cannot guarantee the temperament or behaviour of the dog in its new home, especially in the first few months. On completion of  the dog adoption application form we can chat to you about the dogs we have in our care and how they will fit in with your family.

The minimum suggested dog adoption donation is £310.00 *, which takes into consideration that the dog has been fully vet checked, kennelled, neutered if it is an adult dog, vaccinated and micro-chipped, wormed and front-lined.

Of this donation, the cost of a basic 6-week training course (up to £60) will be refunded to you once your dog completes it – so the adoption donation will be just £250. We are asking all owners to take their dogs to dog training classes – you can read more about why we want you to go to dog training in our Dog Training FAQs.

We also explain why we ask for a dog adoption donation in our General Q&As.

KGR can re-home the dogs outside of the Kent area so long as we can arrange a home check in your area and you are prepared to travel to meet the dog and then again to collect him. The General Q&As will give you more information.

Important small print

If, for whatever reason, you are unable to keep the dog, then it must be returned to KGR together with the vaccination card and passport (if applicable). This will be your responsibility and you will have to make arrangements for the dog to be transported to our kennels or to a foster home in Kent. We rarely have empty kennels spaces so you may need to hold onto the dog until a space becomes available.

The dog adoption donation cannot be refunded under any circumstances.

Please read our Q&As for more information before completing the dog adoption application form.
