What ideal weather we had the weekend just gone hey! Cat the Dog and Awesome Aussie had a particularly fun day on Sunday, making the most of the spring sunshine at Shorne Country Park, just a short drive away from their kennels. The park was filled with couples, families, joggers, lone walkers and of course….DOGS!
Aussie was full of energy and loved exploring a new environment. He tackled the infamous “Cardiac Hill” with walker Amy and was still raring to go afterwards. Cat took a more laidback approach and strolled down the steps on the hill one casual step at a time. Lets just say on the way back up…she was not impressed (and neither was I) lol! This cute kennel couple attracted the attention of adults and children and remained cool, calm & collected when being stroked and meeting fellow furry friends. They were a dream duo!
Shorne Country Park is a great place to visit for all. There are a variety of trails to follow ( suitable for both short and long walks), kids play area, various climbing/jumping areas for fitness, a doggy pond and a whole lot of space for both humans and dogs to explore and take in the natural scenery. Pack up a bag & take your own picnic, or the park has an on-site cafe, which provides hot & cold snacks and an indoor & outdoor seating area. There are also water taps/bowls available for the dogs.
Other great dog-walking locations recommended by our KGR Volunteers include:-
Capstone Country Park – Gillingham – A huge space with woodlands, old orchards, a freshwater lake & a cafe which sells doggy ice cream!
Knole Park – Sevenoaks – Kent’s last medieval deer park with a whole lot of history!
Hambrook Marshes – Canterbury – 50 acre wetland site next to the River Stour. Try out The Great Stour Way walking route!
Hucking Estate – Hollingbourne – One of the top ten bluebell woods with breathtaking views & interesting wildlife!
