Little Pepper is a very sweet playful young dog who can live with children and other dogs.  Lurchers are high energy dogs who demand a lot of attention – if they don’t get the attention and exercise they need they may create their own amusement, which can be destructive behaviour, barking, and/or attention seeking.   Please do not confuse our lovely little Pepper with a small greyhound and therefore think she is an easier option – she is full of beans, very clever and needs active owners who will give her the exercise that she needs.  In the right home she will be a super dog. She is very friendly and affectionate.

Pepper has lived in a home so is housetrained, can be left for a few hours, is great in the car and knows basic commands.  Her family were very upset at parting with her, but had no choice due to an illness in the family. She can be an only dog (as she lived happily as an only dog in her previous home) or she can live with other dogs.

She needs owners who will teach her recall – this can take some time, as until she knows and respects you she will have no reason to come back to you if something better is on offer. She had recall with her previous family – but you need to start again so she understand what you are expecting of her.   This could take a few months, so in the meantime you will need to have the time to provide sufficient lead walking or have a big enough garden for her to run around in.

Pepper does need a family where someone is around for most of the day.

She can be trained to live with cats, if you are prepared to follow the guidance on cat and dog introductions.  Being trained to live with a cat will not stop a dog being interested in cats outside the home – they are completely different issues. Because cat training is time consuming we do not rehome to families with both children and cats, unless we know the dog is cat friendly and not just cat workable.

We can rehome outside of Kent but you will have to travel to meet Pepper and then again to adopt her. We will also need to be able to arrange a homecheck in your area.

Please make sure you are in a position to adopt a dog, before completing the online adoption form. We are unable to hold onto dogs for more than a few days, once you have passed your homecheck.

We do rehome throughout the UK, so long as you are prepared to travel to meet the dog within a few days of applying for him and then again to adopt him, once you have passed your homecheck.
