Poetry Book – Inspired by Finn
One of our wonderful ex-KGR adopters has created this charming poetry book, inspired by daily walks with his beloved dog, Finn.
Finn, a Bull Lurcher (Greyhound x Bull Terrier), came into Kent Greyhound Rescue as a stray before finding his forever home on 20th January 2023. Since then, he has brought endless joy as a fun-loving, boisterous big softie. Friendly and inquisitive, Finn lives life at full speed — or fast asleep… there are no half measures!
Andy Gibbs, a retired Museum Curator, moved to Shillington with his wife, Cheryl, in March 2020. He quickly grew to love the village and surrounding countryside — and enjoys it even more now with Finn by his side.
In October 2023, Andy shared a simple post — “dog, by log, in fog” — on a village Facebook page. That moment sparked something unexpected. Over the following weeks, he began writing poems during his walks, inspired by the landscape and his loyal companion.
He writes each poem as he walks, capturing thoughts in the moment, with only minimal editing at home. Along the way, encouragement from his wife and a growing social media following kept him going.
This book brings together a carefully chosen selection of those works (or, as Andy puts it, “the least bad examples”), offering a heartfelt and often humorous glimpse into life with a dog.
A lovely read for dog lovers, walkers, and anyone who appreciates the small, meaningful moments in everyday life.
