Volunteer with Kent Greyhound Rescue
Thank you for taking the time to look at our volunteer opportunities at Kent Greyhound Rescue. We keep this page updated with our latest roles and ways you can get involved.
Kent Greyhound Rescue is a registered charity (1138841) based near Hythe in South East Kent. Every single one of our volunteers is united by one simple belief: rescue is best. Together, we’re committed to giving greyhounds the second chances they deserve and helping them find loving forever homes.
We have no paid staff and receive no funding from the racing industry or the government. As we continue to grow, we’re always looking for kind, reliable volunteers (unpaid) who want to make a real difference to the lives of our dogs.
Why Volunteer with KGR?
Kent Greyhound Rescue relies entirely on our amazing team of dedicated volunteers. You are at the heart of everything we do and play a vital role in helping us rehome around 175 dogs every year.
Volunteering with KGR means:
• Being part of a supportive, dog-loving community
• Helping change lives — both canine and human
• Knowing your time and effort directly helps greyhounds find safe, happy homes
Whether you’re hands-on with the dogs or supporting us behind the scenes, every role makes a real difference.
Our Commitment to Diversity
Kent Greyhound Rescue is firmly committed to diversity in all areas of our work.
We strive to build and maintain a charity where different ideas, abilities, backgrounds and needs are welcomed and valued — and where people from diverse backgrounds and experiences feel able to participate and contribute.
We regularly review and monitor our progress to ensure we continue to grow as an inclusive, supportive organisation.
The one thing everyone who volunteers with us has in common? A genuine passion for animals and their welfare.
A Note on Age Requirements
At present, we’re unfortunately unable to offer volunteering opportunities to anyone under the age of 18, including for Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) experience.
