Latest News From KGR 12/08/23

Well things have been hectic as always of late. We’ve been to quite a few events which has been fantastic as it gets the dogs out for people to see and they often come and meet them (and sometimes fall in love with them).

Timmy’s new owners travelled all the way from Littlehampton to Tenterden in the hope of meeting him and when he wasn’t there on the Saturday came back on Sunday. Luckily it was love at first sight for all of them so happiness all around.

As we’ve had a lot of greyhounds find homes we’ve helped the local pound who are bursting at the seams with stray dogs again by taking some lurchers until our next gorgeous greyhounds arrive later next week.

The lurchers are different to the greyhounds and do tend to need more active homes. We have some very friendly and loving lurchers especially Ron (Fleasley) who is very much a blank canvas and will benefit from you training him. He does have loads of energy so walks, that’s long walks and lots of play are the key to this boy. Then he calms himself down and takes a long nap.

Luna is another charming girl who is learning about life in a foster home. She’s been in busy London and has taken it all in her stride. She still finds squirrels very exciting though and spots them in the London parks! Very loving and cuddly girl who will make a fabulous pet.

Harry has improved immensely by being in a foster home and we have discovered that he’s great to take on very long walks. He will like another dog for company and prefers the quieter countryside to town life.

The good news regarding Ivy is that there definitely is a breakthrough with her reactions to other dogs. Much work has been put into her and we wish we had recorded a video of her 7 months ago to show you the change in her. She can pass by on the other side of the road now without issues the majority of the time. So Ivy will now be much more appealing to a wider audience. She’s a star in the home.

Enough on the lurcher front for now and onto the weekend of the 19th/20th August when we will be at Tractor Fest at Biddenden for the weekend. This is always a popular event with loads going on for the whole family so it’s well worth a visit and you will be able to come and visit us, just look out for our red tent and keep a check on social media for which dogs will be joining us.

Don’t forget this weekend is Sighthound Sunday at Trosley Country Park. We are a bit low on volunteer numbers this time due to holidays and viewings however it’s well worth going along to for a friendly walk and chat about all things sighthound. Next month hopefully we will be back up to full strength so will have more dogs. Please do go and support them though as it’s a fabulous way to learn about sighthounds and also socialise your dogs.

We will also be starting an online raffle shortly for one of our very popular caterpillar toys so keep a look out for that.

Hopefully we will see lots of you at Tractor Fest next weekend.
