Clyde is a handsome 8 month-old Podenco, originally from Spain. He has been in his foster home for a couple of months and is now used to living in a home.

Clyde is a clever boy – intelligent and trainable and he has already learned and responds to some basic cues, eg sit, wait.  He is still very young, so he is playful and will enjoy being around people and other dogs who will appreciate having a youngster. Clyde loves people. He is very affectionate with his fosterers. and has quickly learnt great manners which is impressive for a young dog. He loves nothing more than coming back home from a lovely walk and curling up with his people.  He is also really good with other dogs which is lovely to see in a dog that has experienced a lot of change in his life so far. Clyde is curious and keen to learn about his surroundings but walks well on the lead and is not as interested in wildlife as the average Podenco.

He is not yet fully grown and he will be quite a big lad once he is an adult dog.  He is a good looking, sweet-natured boy who will need owners who are around a lot and who will appreciate the particular attributes of this wonderful breed and his friendly, affectionate and playful nature.  If you are interested in adopting Clyde and you have a garden, you will need good boundaries with a minimum 6ft fences.

Podencos are a type of sighthound often bred and used for hunting in Spain. Like galgos, podencos are often kept in appalling conditions where they are worked, starved, abused and finally abandoned or killed in the most inhumane ways. Their short, miserable lives are usually devoid of even the most basic things such as food and shelter; love, affection, gentleness and care are alien to most of these dogs.  Ironically, Podencos are beautiful, gentle, intelligent creatures, curious and quick to learn, playful and funny given the opportunity. They are lively, energetic dogs that love being active, but like most sighthounds, also quickly find their spot on the sofa to enjoy a snooze.
