Dave has arrived as a Italian Greyhound X Saluki puppy who was bought from a breeder – then abandoned.  This is all we know of his background.    He is a fabulous puppy – very happy and very and very loving.

We have no idea how big he will grow – he may not even be the breeds mentioned above if they breeder lied to charge more money – who knows.     He is definitely a  sighthound but he may grow to be bigger than expected – he will be as nature intended.

Puppies are very hard work – they bite, they need constant attention and they chew.  Please make sure you have the time and patience before applying – too many people give up on a dog within the first few weeks because they cannot be bothered or they have changed their mind.  Dave needs to go into a home and stay in that home.

Dave will need to go to training classes to make him a good doggie citizen.  That is actual classes – not google ones or a behaviourist report – you need to attend classes.

You will also need a fully secure garden with no launch pads (e.g. bins next to the fence) and be around for most of the day.  Working from home with a puppy will be challenging so ensure you can deal with this.    He can live with other dogs and older children – puppies play bite so he cannot live with young children.

Before applying to adopt, please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the 3-3-3 rule. This is some of the best advice available to help a new dog settle successfully into their new home.

3 days – In the first three days, your dog may feel scared, anxious or overwhelmed. He may also test boundaries as he tries to understand his new environment.

3 weeks – After around three weeks, he should start to feel more settled and become familiar with his routine. This is often when his personality begins to shine through.

3 months – By three months, your new dog will truly understand that this is his home. He’ll feel relaxed, secure and trusting, and much more like himself.

We do rehome throughout the UK, so long as you are prepared to travel to meet the dog within a few days of applying for him and then again to adopt him, once you have passed your homecheck.
