Sleepy Sammy

Sammy is a VERY lazy dog – he will tolerate a walk if he has to – he likes to watch out of the window to see what the neighbours are up to – or a potter around the front garden for the same reasons – but then his bed calls out and he has a strong urge for an another nap.  Sammy is a real sofa bubby – he will make the perfect companion dog for someone who like watching movies, with his arm around his best buddy dog, more than an owner who wants to go one hikes at the weekend.  Sammy loves for his comfort, cuddles and snacks – in that orders.

He is very low maintenance in the home and very affectionate.  He lives with greyhounds and he loves them but he is scared of dogs on the outside – we think this  partly why he doesn’t really like being outside on walks.   He is a real home boy – he feels very safe in his home so it makes him happy.

Sammy is a very lucky lurcher who was found in a dreadful state in Ireland – he was rescued by Cork DAWG (Dog Animal Welfare Group) and one of their amazing foster homes changed his life and made him into the healthy and happy dog he is today.    They have done all the hard work so now he is coming over to KGR so we can find him his forever home.  Please watch his video.

He arrived at KGR, jumped straight on the sofa and had a lovely long sleep – whilst those little legs were chasing bunnies rabbits in his dreams.  He is so affectionate and just loves people.

Sammy is a very sweet dog – we think he is around 5 years old.  He is now used to being in a foster home in Ireland and he lived with other sighthounds.

All of our dogs live in foster homes, which helps us get to know their personalities and find them the perfect family match.

Before applying to adopt, please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the 3-3-3 rule. This is some of the best advice available to help a new dog settle successfully into their new home.

3 days – In the first three days, your dog may feel scared, anxious or overwhelmed. He may also test boundaries as he tries to understand his new environment.

3 weeks – After around three weeks, he should start to feel more settled and become familiar with his routine. This is often when his personality begins to shine through.

3 months – By three months, your new dog will truly understand that this is his home. He’ll feel relaxed, secure and trusting, and much more like himself.
