Tutty

Tutty is a gorgeous boy who gets adoration from everyone he meets with his all-round good boy behaviour. He is a young hound and will be celebrating his 3rd birthday in  August!

Whether he’s at home or out and about, Tutty takes life in his stride and enjoys being part of whatever is going on. This lovely boy has been exploring his foster-town: he’s seen seagulls, pints, plenty of people and loves to have a nose at whatever is going on.

Tutty is torn between his two loves: walks and toys!! He is curious, and loves to be out on adventures (or among his adoring public), getting some good sniffs in and enjoying his new world. At home, one of the sweetest things Tutty does is collect his toys and take them back to bed to snuggle. He adores a cuddle, whether with his stuffed animals or the people he loves! His foster family says he is content to lie on his bed surrounded by his teddies until walk times.

When it comes to food, Tutty is very polite: he takes his treats gently and is well-mannered around human mealtimes. He has been learning some basic commands and is picking up training quickly.

Tutty is a lovely hound with lots to offer, and and we can’t wait to see him find the loving home he deserves.

Tutty has only spent time in kennels, so some everyday household sights and sounds may still feel new, confusing or a little worrying for him. He’ll need gentle introductions to things like hoovers, TVs and busy home life, along with plenty of reassurance as he learns that he’s safe. With time, patience and understanding, Tutty will blossom into a wonderful companion, ready to share life’s adventures with you.

In the early days of adoption, it’s your responsibility to keep him safe by keeping his world small and calm. Take things slowly and gently build up to more exciting experiences – too much, too soon can be overwhelming and may make the adoption harder for him.

Please remember to stay calm and relaxed throughout this settling-in period. If you feel anxious or stressed, then your new dog is likely to feel the same. Greyhounds are sensitive, emotional souls and are very good at picking up on our moods.

Before applying to adopt, please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the 3-3-3 rule. This is some of the best advice available to help a new dog settle successfully into their new home.

3 days – In the first three days, your dog may feel scared, anxious or overwhelmed. He may also test boundaries as he tries to understand his new environment.

3 weeks – After around three weeks, he should start to feel more settled and become familiar with his routine. This is often when his personality begins to shine through.

3 months – By three months, your new dog will truly understand that this is his home. He’ll feel relaxed, secure and trusting, and much more like himself.
