Parsnip is a beautiful, brindle boy who is looking for his new home and a bit of zen! At just 4 years old, he’s has already decided that life doesn’t need to be too hectic.
This incredibly handsome hound is very chilled-out. He can often be found stretched out in the garden, happily snoozing in the sunshine — or, when it’s a little warmer, sensibly choosing a shady spot instead. He’s equally happy taking himself off for a nap somewhere quiet and enjoying a bit of peace and tranquillity.
Parsnip is only 4 years old but prefers shorter walks and usually is happier when his nose is pointing homeward-bound so he can hurry back to catch up one his beauty sleep.

Settling in: the 3-3-3 rule
Before coming into foster care, Parsnip spent time in kennels, , so some everyday household sights and sounds may still feel new, confusing or a little worrying for him. He’ll need gentle introductions to things like hoovers, TVs and busy home life, along with plenty of reassurance as he learns that he’s safe. With time, patience and understanding, Parsnip will blossom into a wonderful companion, ready to share life’s adventures with you.
In the early days of adoption, it’s your responsibility to keep Parsnip safe by keeping his world small and calm. Take things slowly and gently build up to more exciting experiences – too much, too soon can be overwhelming and may make the adoption harder for him.
Please remember to stay calm and relaxed throughout this settling-in period. If you feel anxious or stressed, then your new dog is likely to feel the same. Greyhounds are sensitive, emotional souls and are very good at picking up on our moods.
Before applying to adopt, please read our FAQs and take a moment to familiarise yourself with the 3-3-3 rule. This is some of the best advice available to help a new dog settle successfully into their new home.
3 days – In the first three days, your dog may feel scared, anxious or overwhelmed. He may also test boundaries as he tries to understand his new environment.
3 weeks – After around three weeks, he should start to feel more settled and become familiar with his routine. This is often when his personality begins to shine through.
3 months – By three months, your new dog will understand that this is his home. He’ll feel relaxed, secure and trusting, and much more like himself.
